The Kitsap Peninsula is located in Puget Sound consisting of over 300 miles of shoreline and located between the Olympic and Cascade Mountains enjoying spectacular views of mountains and water at every turn. Most of the communities are centered around their waterfront with marinas, shops, galleries and restaurants. There are many world class golf courses, endless recreational activities and scenic wonders. In addition to marinas and yacht clubs, Kitsap has upscale waterfront homes with private docks. Seattle is a short ferry boat ride away and the Olympic Peninsula; Victoria and Vancouver, Canada; Portland, Oregon; and three National Parks are all within driving distance. Olympic Peninsula (Jefferson & Clallam Counties)
The majestic Olympic Mountains are framed by the Strait of Juan de Fuca to the north, Puget Sound to the east, and the Pacific Ocean to the west. It is a boating, hiking, fishing and diving paradise. Some of the most beautiful islands in the world, the San Juan Islands are a cluster of many large and small islands sprawling at the southern end of Georgia Strait just below the Canadian border. Orca whales make their home in the San Juan Islands typically from late April through the end of September. The major islands enjoy regular ferry service from the main lands of Washington State and Sidney, BC on Vancouver Island. There are large marinas on the major islands including San Juan, Lopez, and Orcas. It is a spectacular boating area with lots of interesting ports and quiet coves for boaters to enjoy. There are many waterfront homes with docks capable of handling both small and large yachts. Just a great place for a boater to live and enjoy life. San Juan Islands Boating Communities
Seattle Metro (King County)
Talk about a boater's paradise, boats are everywhere in Seattle! Water and mountains offering spectacular views of Puget Sound, Lake Washington and Lake Union surround the city. The awesome height of Mount Rainier, the Cascade and Olympic Mountains can be witnessed from all over the city. These are views which confirm Seattle's easy access to outdoor recreational activities including boating throughout the year. The Seattle Metropolitan boat communities mostly line the east and west sides of Lake Washington with access through the Ballard Locks to the oceans of the world. There are many marinas as well as lots of private and community docks. Great marinas like Elliott Bay, Shilshole, Carillon Point and Des Moines. And then there are the floating homes on Lake Union and along the ship canal and water view condominiums on Alki, Kirkland and Belltown. Seattle is at the heart of the tremendous Puget Sound boating area offering great marine facilities as well as a wonderful place to live and work. South Puget Sound
South Puget Sound's water-oriented geography supports an active boating lifestyle including cruising, kayaking, sailing, and scuba diving. The cities and suburbs in this area offer quiet neighborhoods combined with a number of full service marinas and marine services. Its main cities include Tacoma and Olympia, the State Capital. If you need access to a larger city, Seattle is less than an hour north. Olympia ranks as one of America's loveliest cities and Tacoma, the City of Destiny, is an international gateway to the Pacific Rim and the world. Tacoma also serves as a gateway to some of the most magnificent natural wonders in the world such as Puget Sound, Mount Rainier National Park and the Olympic Peninsula. South Puget Sound has a number of great boating communities including Gig Harbor, Fox Island, Olympia and the Thea Foss Waterway. Whidbey & Fidalgo Islands North to BC
The boundries of this Major Boating Area starts just north of Seattle in Edmonds and continues north to the Canadian border. Whidbey and Fidalgo Islands are located north of Seattle enroute to the City of Blaine on the U.S. Canadian Border. Whidbey Island is 50 miles long and is known for its quaint little towns like Langley and Coupeville and the Naval Air Station at Oak Harbor. Remember the movie “An Officer and a Gentleman”? That’s Whidbey. Fidalgo Island houses the town of Anacortes and is known as “the gateway to San Juan Islands” because of its ferry service to the San Juan Islands and Sidney, BC. The town of La Conner is a quaint seaport with wonderful art galleries, unusual shops and great restaurants. North of these islands, closer to the Canadian border, are the boating communities of Squalicum (Bellingham), Sandy Point, Blaine, Point Roberts and Semiahmoo.
